Some other towns well worth a visit are
Luso, with its natural spring, the very old town of Coja, Monte-mor-o-velho,
Oliveria do hospital and Carregal do sal. If you venture to
the top of the Serra de Estrella mountains you can visit the
town of Seia, which lies in the foothills.
Most towns have a wide selection of supermarkets, shops, banks,
bars and restaurants.
The Cities here are rich in Portuguese history, Coimbra, with
its world famous library and old university and Viseu with its
fine architecture. For archaeological interest there is the
town of Conimbriga, which has a Roman excavation, and the village
of Piodao, built entirely of xisto stone. Natural areas include
bucaco, mata de Marganca, Vale do Alva and Fraga da Pena which
has a beautiful waterfall. |
